Tamron 60mm – Best Lens For Macro Photography Beginner

At some point in your photography, there will come a time when you feel that all your images look similar, dull or boring. If this happens to you, do not see it as a sign that you should give up photography!

It happened to me earlier in my career and thankfully there is an easy solution to this problem. You need is a new vision. Welcome to the world of macro photography. In this world, you will get extremely and intimately close to your subject, making the ordinary world looks extraordinary. With macro photography, you can turn ordinary object such as flowers, ants or even a grain of salt into a fascinating one.

When you’re just starting out with macro photography, I would recommend you shoot flowers. They look wonderful and pretty when viewed very closely. However, your new vision will require a special photographic lens: a Macro lens.

A macro lens is a lens that will allow you to focus very close to your subject and give you 1:1 ratio. This means that the lens can project the actual, real size of the subject to the camera’s sensor.

A macro lens will not come cheap. Most of them cost USD $700 or more. If you are just starting out with macro photography, I would not recommend spending this much at first.

That being said, I found a particularly good and affordable lens that I highly recommend for macro photography beginners: the Tamron 60mm f/2 1:1 Macro. The lens is light, sharp and allows you to take many wonderful pictures when you’re just starting out in your macro photography journey.

The Tamron 60mm f/2 features a fast aperture, the fast currently available on the market. With this fast aperture, you’ll be able to take sharp macro pictures and excellent portraits with beautiful background. Tamron updated its optical element so it is capable of delivering extremely sharp result for any user.

As a user this lens will let you experiment and will grow with you over time as you develop your macro photography skill. For anyone who is looking for the first macro lens to get, I highly recommend this lens.

Storing your Photography Equipment

Professional photographers are very careful how they store all their expensive photographic equipment. Although you may not be a professional photographer, you may be struggling to decide how you are going to store whatever equipment you have. Many of us have more than one camera and are not sure how to keep them safe.

Before you invest a lot of money into a camera bag, it is important that you take stock of what equipment you own and think about what purpose your bag will serve. If you are like me, you own a small point and shoot camera, and a larger DSLR camera with some additional lenses. I tend to carry my cameras with me when I go on holiday and to family members’ houses on special occasions like Christmas or birthdays. For this reason, I have never invested in a large camera bag to carry all my equipment as I don’t go on professional shoots and when I do travel with my camera I try to keep what I take to a minimum. I like to put my camera in my carry-on bag to keep it safe, so I don’t like to carry too much equipment. I own a small camcorder that I sometimes take with me also, but I have never had the need to invest in a camera bag that holds all my cameras and equipment at once because I usually take only one camera with me at a time. There are some occasions when I want to take video as well as stills and in this case, I will take my camcorder as well as my small point and shoot camera to avoid being overloaded with heavy cameras.

In my home, I store all my equipment together on a shelf in my closet. I keep accessories like chargers and extra memory cards on this shelf, also, in a clear plastic bin so that I know where everything is and it is easily accessible. Keeping all your equipment together is usually the best way to store it. This prevents loss of equipment and wasted time spent searching for items.

There are many people, however, who like to carry all their equipment with them at once. This is especially true of photographers who are very skilled at taking photos and like to switch lenses and frequently use a tripod to take photos. This type of photographer should own a good sturdy bag to hold all their valuable equipment. Professional photographers use backpacks so they can easily carry with them all their gear when they are shooting on location. There are many different types of camera bags that can be purchased and although they may be more expensive than a regular carry bag or backpack, they will protect all your cameras from damage. If you own a great bag, you will have very little need for a designated shelf or box in your house as most, if not all, of your equipment will be stored in the bag. Nevertheless, keeping everything to do with photography in one place will help you stay organized and save you time in the long run.

Excellence In Erotic Nude Photography

When most hear the words “Erotic Photography” photos of bare women with no morals taking advantage of themselves for money is what comes to mind. Erotic photography is very much more than this. At its heart, erotic photography is a way to capture the essence of the body, the external beauty, and subtleties that define sensuality and eroticism.

Erotic photography is defined as photographing the nude body in a manner which is artistic and creative. Whereas, we commonly think of porn material as the edgy, degrading, and often trashy images of women, with low moral standards behind it. Many photographers are spend many years refining the art of erotic photography. Some even have award winning erotic photography which features a nude subject. Even the erotic photography models undergo long sessions of training to master their poses and to create the subtle nuances that define their area of work.

Long before magazines like Playboy were ever printed erotic photography was popular. History is filled with examples of erotic art and nude portraits. Because of the controversy, in the 1900’s , those who were skilled in the art of erotic photography were chastised and therefore would take the photos anonymously. Even though sex sites reigns supreme on the internet, it’s still difficult to find true erotic photography, which stands apart from it’s distant relative, porn. With some extensive searching, using choice key phrases like “nude art” and “erotic women” you can find some very good examples of modern erotic photography. These are the people who should be praised for their artistic abilities and talents.

Erotic images have been present in virtually every society in this world. The Paleolithic carvings and cave paintings are an example of very old, but surviving erotic depictions. If you look at the ruins of Pompeii, you’ll see ancient Greek paintings that cover the walls. A country like Peru on the southern part of America had a community known as Moshe which centered on sculpturing explicit scenes into their pottery. Also, the Larco museum in Lima has many types of erotic ceramics and artwork.

The same has also been experienced in Eastern cultures. In Japan, the Shunga appeared from early in the thirteenth century up to late in the nineteenth century. All through, it continued to gain popularity until the invention of photography. In China, it was during the latter years of Ming dynasty that erotic art reached its climax. The Kama Sutra of India continues to enjoy popularity till today.

The Art Of Conceptual Photography

Conceptual photography is an art form in itself. In much the same way as a painter would conceptualize a painting to capture a specific idea or theme, conceptual photography showcases the photographer’s artistic talents. Rather than a realistic picture, the photograph is often more a demonstration of an idea or concept. The photographs are frequently dramatic, capturing a split second or moment in time. Often, digital enhancement and editing are required to achieve the final effect. A conceptual photograph will tell a story, capture an emotion or throw out an idea for the observer to draw their own conclusions

What Makes Conceptual Photography Unique?

With photography, you get to capture a single moment in time and that single moment can tell a story or share a wealth of emotions depending on how the shot is captured. Conceptual photographers play with images and ideas in order to portray a specific meaning. For example, it could be a photograph of someone running through a fountain as it sprays up. Usually, this is an image that would be only a fleeting observation. When captured in a still form, it has quite a dramatic effect. These types of stills are often used in advertising campaigns as they are most effective in getting a single idea across to the audience. Conceptual photography shows more clearly the photographer’s interpretation of a subject matter. For some photographers, this is what makes it so special. They sit behind the lens of their camera and deliberately choose their angle and lighting as well as what they want to include in the shot. Each photograph almost has their personal stamp on it.

What Applications Are Conceptual Photographs Used For?

Conceptual photography is a favorite with fashion stylists. Usually, a fashion line has a specific theme or concept to it and this is something that the fashion designer wants portrayed in the photographs. Perhaps the theme incorporates only specific colors. In a conceptual photograph, the background could be shot in black and white or sepia to bring out the colors of the clothing or the fact that the clothing line has an antique feel about it. In other types of conceptual photographs, colors may be enhanced to make the subject matter more appealing. This is usually the case when photographing food. Think of the incredible shots that you see in magazines and recipe books. Most of these are examples of conceptual photographs. They may show a scoop of ice cream with chocolate sauce dripping off the spoon. In this way, conceptual photography can be used to make the subject matter more enticing. Hotels and resorts may also use conceptual photography to capture the idea of what it would be like to stay there. Clear blue skies, waving palm trees, and people enjoying a spa treatment or massages are all examples of conceptual photographs.

Interior design companies, builders or architects may use conceptual photography to put across their design ideas in a more deliberate way. A standard photograph may show a stylish room or interior; however, a conceptual photograph can focus on just a single element of design and enhance it. Making just one element the focus of the photograph often better showcases the artistic talent. For example, in an interior, the designer may have chosen specifically contrasting fabrics with the walls and furniture. A broad picture of the room won’t show this but a close-up shot showing the contrasts will. This is why conceptual photography is so often used in the design industry. Advertising is, of course, the one industry where conceptual photography is most widely used. In a way, it incorporates all the above fields of applications as what is often being photographed is for an advertisement or brochure.

Understanding Conceptual Photography

Sometimes when you first look at a conceptual photograph it may not make sense to you. Often, this is because it shows a side to something that you are not familiar with or would not place in a still picture. When looking at a conceptual photograph, you often need to study it, in much the same way as you would study a painting or sculpture. When you look more closely, the concept of the photograph starts to reveal itself and you can get an idea of what the photographer is trying to portray. A conceptual photograph is often multi-dimensional, putting forward different ideas and viewpoints than you may normally have considered. It makes you stop and think, and this is one of the reasons why it is considered an art form.

Portrait Photography Tips That Will Add Extra Style To Your Pictures

What are the factors that influence the outcome of a portrait and distinguish between ordinary and extraordinary? Don’t get me wrong, there absolutely nothing wrong with the classic and conventional portraits that follow the rules. There are amazing portraits, though, that just stand out above the rest.

Sometimes, the most stunning portraits are the ones that don’t conform to the traditional rules. With a few clever portrait photography tips, you can create photographs that rival those by the most talented artistic photographers.

The direction of your subject’s gaze can have dramatic effects on the portrait. Having your subject focus on something outside the view of the camera can create a very candid and intriguing photograph. You can create a story within the image by focusing your subject’s attention on something within the frame, such as another person or an object.

Candid shots look natural and can often be more flattering. Instead of having the subject pose, shoot them reacting normally to situations. Candid shots especially work well when photographing children. Black and white portrait photography is another method that adds elegance and drama to photographs while at the same time concealing minor imperfections like blemishes and skin discoloration.

Portrait Photography Tips to Conceal Subjects’ Imperfections

There are several tricks you can use to help correct issues with the subjects of your portraits. If the subject has a round or fat face, try posing them three-fourths to the camera, using short lighting, and slightly raising the camera angle. Pose models with thin faces facing the camera.

If your subject has deep lines or wrinkles, try using softer, frontal lighting. Sometimes scars and blemishes can be concealed by repositioning the subject to shadow the problem areas. When blinking is a problem, try to time your shots to right after the subject blinks. You can compensate for deep set eyes by directing light into the eyes.

A bigger nose can be obscured by posing nose straight into lens or raising the chin, whereas a small nose should be positioned at an angle to the camera. Multiple chins can be concealed by having the subject lean their head toward the camera and stretching their neck.

There are several portrait photography tips to stop the glare of eye glasses. You can shoot the photographs with empty frames, removing the glass element all together, position the glasses away from the light, or bounce the lights off of the ceiling instead of shining directly on the subject.

When your subject has different sized eyes, you can either create an evening effect by having them turn the largest eye away or shadow the smaller eye while the larger one is turned closer to the camera. By using a higher camera angle or a three-fourths pose, you can diminish the appearance of a subject’s square jaw.

These are only a few tips for portrait photography. There are countless other methods that are effective in both adding drama to your images and hiding imperfections. Have fun with your camera, experiment and perhaps you can come up with some portrait photography tips of your own.

Commercial Photography – Shooting For Magazines

Digital photography has caused a massive surge in the popularity of this once mysterious art. Secrets of the darkroom, once accessible only through years of study and practice, are now widely available in digital photo editing suites. Film which would cost a professional photographer hundreds of dollars over time has been replaced by memory cards with infinite re-shoot possibilities, and the low cost of entry for digital has allowed thousands of new users to jump into the fray with minimal financial risk. With so many new photographers in the profession, it has helped expand the market for both publications and photography opportunities and created new sources of images and places to sell them. But as a new photographer it may seem challenging to get started so let’s take a look at the world of magazine photography.

What Do Magazines Want?

Sure, there are plenty of magazines out there that deal primarily in celebrity gossip or trendy news. Since its not likely you will be booking Brad Pitt into your studio (or sneaking around outside his house), its important to remember that there are thousands of magazines out there that are all dedicated to pretty much everything else. There are magazines on cars, dogs, computers, fitness, home decor, cooking and so many others. These magazines are always on the market for relevant and useful images that fit their niche.

One way to think about it is that these magazines will always need images of their topics and are happy to pay for them. For example, dog magazines, will never stop needing dog photos so why not focus on a specific niche?

How Do I Get Started?

First, you should look for a niche that you find interesting. Whatever topic you love, chances are good that there is a magazine focused on that particular subject. Once youve decided on a market, swing by your local bookstore and grab a few magazines off the rack. Take a look at the kinds of photos they are using, and ask yourself if these are the kinds of photographs that you will enjoy taking. Its also important to be honest with yourself at this step can you deliver photographs that are at or above the quality of the photos theyre using? If not, work on your photography until you can.

Once you’re ready, look through each magazine and find the photo editor or information on how to submit photos. You want to make sure that you understand the magazine’s guidelines before you start otherwise your pictures will likely not be accepted. Once you know where and how to send your photo, send it in. Its always good to accompany the photo with a brief note this is a good place to link your portfolio.

The Waiting Game

Anytime you submit a photo to a magazine, plan to wait several weeks for a response. Magazines are a print media, and even if accepted your photographs will not show up for a few months. Additionally, its always best to only submit each photo to one publication at a time, this way you dont run the risk of having to decline an offer because another editor has chosen to use your image.

Many times, magazine will note their usual response time to be between 2-8 weeks. If you havent heard anything after this time has expired its okay to send a follow-up note reminding the editor of your submission. Just keep it polite!

What’s so surprising about selling pictures to magazines is that the process is so easy. It can be summed up in its entirety by find it, shoot it, mail it. Selling your photographs to a magazine may sound like a crazy idea, but once you get started making submissions, you’ll wish you would have started doing it sooner!

Regular Photography Business Is Dying. Birthing Of 3d Photography Business!

Of course I understand that the sentence “Regular photography business is dying” in this article title is too strong. The most talented photographers will be in business forever. I used it just to grab your attention to the problem that regular photography business got recently after starting a digital era.

Nowadays photo companies like Canon, Nikon and others are making simple to operate yet more and more advanced photo cameras and lenses, adding more new and useful features to the cameras, improving quality, sensitivity, noise reduction while at the same time cutting the price. Now everybody can buy a Digital SLR photo camera, read a photography book and take pretty good quality photos. Now we have more very affordable ink jet photo printers available in the market that can produce decent prints. There are many powerful photo editing programs for improving the images and making nice looking collages. The entire process of making nice pictures today is not difficult compared to the same process 10 years ago and much less expensive. That is good for the consumer but has put a great pressure on the professional photography business. Today anyone can buy computer, DSLR camera, ink jet photo printer and call themselves a professional photographer.

Today many people prefer to invite a friend to take their wedding photographs rather than use a professional wedding photographer. Those that do use a professional are expecting lower expenses as there are many standard photographers to choose from.Now many people prefer to make the photos by themselves without going to professional photographers and photo studios. That is why we can say that regular photography business is under huge pressure.

Over the years digital photography has become common place and technology has simplified and improved the resulting pictures to the point where even large companies in the photo processing industry are closing down outlets. Those that remain are trying to regain business by offering large format prints or prints on canvas, things the general public cannot produce. Many large stores which do not offer those services do not have photo departments anymore where previously they had big profitable photo departments.

But there is a new way for photo business, the business that is not easy to repeat by everybody and with very attractive product for customers! I am talking about 3D photography business.

3D Photography Business
There are several ways for taking 3D pictures and for most of them the viewer needs some special glasses for seeing 3D effect. That is not convenient for customers and not good for business. However there is one technology that does not need any kind of glasses. That is 3D lenticular technology.

3D lenticular technology is the most suitable for customers because people can hold the picture in the hands and see 3D, without crazy “crossing eyes” or having the special glasses. 3D lenticular pictures have the regular colors like regular photos; they can be in any sizes from small wallet size to big size for putting on a wall, they look like the regular photos just more alive because of the depth. That is why regular people prefer 3D lenticular images compare to other types of 3D pictures.

One of the main problems of making 3D lenticular images is a difficulty of taking the pictures and a very long and labour-consuming process of creating the pictures. For example,even couple years ago we spent at least 2-3 hours before getting an image, because almost all stages of process of creating 3D picture were manual.Of course, it is not acceptable for business because the price of each picture was very high. But luckily now, with modern 3D lenticular technology we can receive 3D lenticular picture in just 10 minutes and even less and most of this time is spending on printing because almost all steps of lenticular technology are automated now, for example, process could be so automated that period of time between triggering 3D camera and starting printing could be as low as 40 seconds. This In-Depth Image System was developed for covering all technology steps in process of producing of 3D lenticular pictures from taking the frames to creating 3D image. This system is easy to operate, for example, we can teach the people how to work with In-Depth Image System and produce 3D lenticular images during 3-4 hours and people do not have to be the experts in photography or in computer.

In-Depth Image System can be successfully used in many different photo market niches. There are:

Portrait photography;

School and graduation photography;

Event photography;

Pets photography;

Advertisement photography and so on.

In-Depth Image System could be used for establishing of 3D photo business because:

In-Depth Image System produces High Quality 3D Lenticular pictures in different sizes;

This system is simple to operate;

In-Depth Image technology of producing 3D lenticular images is easy and rapid;

There is no necessity to have very experienced staff;

The prices on 3D pictures are very competitive with the prices that ask regular photo studios for regular flat pictures;

It is almost impossible to repeat this process by customers themselves, so you will be the only expert in making 3D lenticular pictures in your area;

It is profitable.

Please, look at the real sample picture that were made by In-Depth Image System below. Unfortunately that is impossible to show the depth on that picture because computer monitor can show the flat images only. That is why I created animation GIF file from the frames taken by our system. Originally we shot 12 – 18 frames, so 3D lenticular pictures are much smoother and without any rough jumping like on animation pictures.
