Anger Management And Mixed Martial Arts

0

The core ingredient of a meaningful self-defense program is considered to be anger management. However, there are not many martial arts programs that have this comprehensive approach in training. Instructors have not been given proper guidance on how to incorporate anger management in their training program. But now, many martial arts academies including those in Maryland teaching Mixed Martial Arts, are teaching anger management alongside the basic techniques of martial arts.

Anger is essentially rooted in feelings of frustration, fear, failure, stress, rejection, and so on. These feelings are experienced by men, women, children, and elderly. We all go through moments of rage time and again. It can be due to peer pressure, unhealthy competition, financial crises, dissatisfaction in personal or professional life, or some other reason. Eventually anger takes a toll on those who are getting angry and the party bearing the brunt of the rage. Anger is known to increase the chances of high blood pressure and heart attack. It also affects a persons capability to think logically and make meaningful and correct decisions. In some cases this can even cause long lasting and even permanent damage to relationships. Proper anger management can help a person use his feelings in the right direction to solve a problem rather than wasting time and filling oneself with negativity.

Mixed Martial Arts can be more than just an art of self defense. It can help the mixed martial arts practitioner in anger management too. The practitioner learns the art of showing restraint, respect and resilience. Like other martial arts, even Mixed Martial Arts discourages an athlete from attacking an unaware or unprepared person. Techniques such as biting, eye-gouging, fish hooking, clawing, twisting and pinching flesh, small joint manipulation, attacking the groin area, using abusive language, spitting, and hair-pulling are illegal and unethical. MMA athletes are strictly discouraged from using techniques that aim at injuring the opponent. Athletes are responsible for the safety of their opponent. While applying any of the submission techniques, MMA athletes must apply the pressure slowly. They must stop the moment they feel that any further pressure can injure the athlete. This teaches the MMA athlete the clarity of purpose, which is to make the opponent submit and not to hurt him. It also teaches them to respect their opponents strength.

If you are planning on learning Mixed Martial Arts with a focus on dealing your anger issues, it is a great idea. You will learn to be self disciplined, avoid losing your temper constantly, avoid using profanity during a match or practice and control your negative emotions. All these are positive qualities that are worth imbibing in your life and not just while you are learning a sport or a martial art such as Mixed Martial Arts.

Find out whether your preferred Mixed Martial Arts , academy in Maryland or nearby areas such as Virginia and Washington D.C. offer a comprehensive learning course that includes anger management.

The Art Of Basketball Shooting Discovered

Since the sport of basketball was invented more than a century ago, youth, high school and college basketball coaches and players have all attempted to master the art of basketball shooting but in the 21st Century, high school basketball coach Steve Fisher has done just that.

Taking into account physics and a players body style, hand size and finger length coach Fisher has produced a remarkable and insightful DVD on the art of basketball shooting called The Secrets of Shooting.

I realized that there is a strong correlation between hand placement, wrist action, and how you release the ball. After studying great shooters of the NBA, I identified four distinct styles that different players use, said Fisher.

These four distinctive styles are all incorporated in his one-of-a-kind DVD which clearly explains how players can improve their technique of shooting a basketball. Jacob Hays, provides narration and carefully and with simplicity explains the techniques demonstrated in the Secrets of Shooting while the Fisher Sharp Shooters demonstrate each step of the way.
But these techniques did not come to Fisher overnight. Its a process that included his own attempts as an average high school basketball player and then later as a small town high school basketball coach to help all of his players become more confident and accurate shooters.

After reading Bill Sharmans book, Sharman on Basketball Shooting and John Fontanellas The Physics of Basketball, I realized that one size does not fit all and an individualized approach to the art of shooting a basketball was the best one for all players.

Included in his research was the study of some of the greatest basketball shooters of all time, from Pistol Pete Maravich, Rich Barry and Reggie Smith to George Gervin, Jerry West and Kobe Bryant.

He also studied biomechanics, body types, finger lengths, dart throwing, golf instruction the physics of dance and even medical studies and with all of his research and with his acquired knowledge developed the four distinct shooting methods covered in the DVD.

Traditional basketball shooting is geared to tall, thin ectomorph body types so many of todays young population are left out, Fisher said. I take an individualistic approach to basketball shooting and my DVD shows the correct techniques to shooting incorporating the four distinct shooting methods.
Fisher also puts to rest the notion that repetition alone will make a basketball player a better shooter.

The beauty of the DVDs approach is that the results are immediate. The methods sell themselves. When kids see the ball go in they believe, said Fisher.
Its perfect for players of any age and basketball camp, youth, high school and college basketball players.

The Art Of Living In The Bathroom

Radiators posing as works of art, colorful furniture and waterproof TV’s operated from the bath by floatable remote control are bringing living room luxury to the bathing ritual.

The bathroom has been banished from backstage with design and technological innovations placing it in the limelight as the home’s headline act. Nowhere has the design revolution gathered such pace, with baths that cradle you within their sinuous shapes and showers that simulate a warm tropical downpour. The notion of a quick dip in the bath has disappeared as householders dedicate more space in their homes to multi-tasking bathrooms where they can cocoon themselves in warmth while catching up with a favorite TV program or listen to music with the lighting turned down low.

With the plethora of bathroom products on the market, the choice can be bewildering but a tour of the remodeled Guildford showroom of the long-established supplier Wilky Bathroom Centre reveals a tightly edited collection of displays reflecting the new trends.

One of the innovations is Color boards, a new range of glass storage furniture injecting a welcome shot of color into the bathroom and creating a style virtue out of necessity. The Color boards designs come in shades ranging from invigorating purple to calming olive in bold geometric shapes. Made of 10mm thick safety glass, the wall-mounted furniture is painted on the back so that the brilliance of the color won’t fade. Towel holders, soap dispensers and matching lights and mirrors can be integrated.

Highlighting the bathroom-as-living-room trend is a display featuring Villeroy & Boch’s new La Belle range. It shows a sculptural free-standing bath and furniture inspired by the age of Romanticism alongside a walk-in Squaro shower which falls from an overhead arch above a tray set flush with the floor. Blurring the boundaries between boudoir, bathroom and living room even further is a waterproof TV recessed into the wall while a dramatic Aestus wall radiator in the form of a feather unites form and function to make a design statement.

Europe’s iconic designers are driving the bathroom revolution with French maestro Philippe Starck’s Starck X range for Axor attracting fans with novel designs that ‘maximize minimalism’ while Hansgrohe’s new bathroom collection from Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola demonstrates her belief that our private living spaces should reflect our personalities with their eclecticism.

“Bathrooms have become multi-functional rooms where people are spending more time taking respite from their busy lives,” says Wilky Bathroom Centre director Sandra Young. “The amazing range of new products on the market reflects this, allowing you to turn a bathroom into a health spa with whirlpools and steam or a room to lie back in and relax with music and mood lighting. To simplify the process of choosing a bathroom, we have highlighted what we consider to be the best designs available, with working displays to show clients exactly how the technology operates.”

The History Of The Chautauqua Industrial Art Desk

Early in our country’s history, the benefits of drawing were unknown. When children wanted to express themselves through drawing, it was believed that the desire to do so floated above their undeveloped inner vision. These children were branded and considered to have “evil tendencies.”

The infamous Chautauqua Industrial Art Desk was invented in the 1800’s in the New York county of Chautauqua. Chautauqua was not only a county and a lake, it was the location of an original and unique school and learning center, called “Mother Chatauqua,” Founded by inventor Lewis Miller and Methodist bishop John Heyl Vincent, it was first used as a school for educating Sunday school teachers. One can imagine that these pious educators were the first to sit at the Chatauqua art tables.

The center evolved into a gathering place where people could join together and discuss many topics, including important events, the news of the day, and to learn new things. A summer school for cultural events was soon added and public lectures were held outdoors. It boldly grew to host general education and, mostly attracted popular speakers of the day.

The strong U.S. movement towards education and culture began in 1874. The art desk was used in homes by parents to prepare children for their future vocations. Eventually, it was used for the children’s self-expressions, then for a child’s play, which was realized to be crucial to their imagination and growth.

The hunger for knowledge and culture peaked in 1924, yet the “Mother Chautauqua,” persevered, and set the prototype for community colleges and continued education. It couldn’t sustain throughThe Depression and was forced to the brink of bankruptcy in 1933. John D. Rockerfeller was the white knight and helped the center to reopen in 1936. In 1989, it was declared a National Historic Landmark. It’s safe to say that every major event in the 20th century found the path to “Mother Chautauqua,”

The original art desks were scattered around the area, and some can still be found, either in homes or antique furniture stores. An example of a child’s art table, circa 1913, measured 16″x22″, and has a green chalkboard on one side of the lift-top table, and a folded map of the USA on the other. Inside, rolls of drawing and lesson instructions were found.

There are Chautauqua-style art tables available, in several designs. These are reproductions, and although they are stylish, they are not the antique original Chautauqua art tables.

Purchasing fine art oil paintings is not a simple task it is actually an art that every art lover knows about it and follows accordingly.

There are lot of things you will have to consider like empty space of the wall, theme of the paintings, color scheme of paintings, color of the wall, color of your furniture and space. It is quite obvious that you will not like to buy paintings that reflect feeling of anger in the bedroom or study room. Rather than this you might consider buying paintings that reflect peace, prosperity, childhood memories, soothing abstract or other such kind of painting.
